The Eagle Has Landed (well QF73 anyway)

Its official, the Harvy's have arrived in San Francisco and were greeted by a beautiful sunny day with similar weather forecast for rest of the week.

Flight went to plan, on flight entertainment system was great with heaps of movies, tv shows, music, etc to pass the time. The food not so great but you can't have everything. I met a couple of nice guys on the plane, Johnnie (Johnnie Walker) and his good mate Jim (Jim Beam). Nice guys, good company.

Pic below shows how many bags we brought with us. My goal is to bring home the same amount of bags, Sonia's goal is to double the count!

We checked in to the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf Hotel, you guessed it, right in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf - see link Quite comfortable and close to the action. Kids were entertained by the fact that the door to our room had a "peep hole" - mmmmmm we have all the literature re local attractions and they're just happy we have a "peep hole".

We quickly hit the boards and took advantage of the day, walking around the wharf area. Spotted Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Should see the size of the seagulls here, our seagulls look like sparrows in comparison.

Came back for an afternoon snooze before heading out for a lovely dinner at Pompei's Grotto at 340 Jefferson Street (right in middle of Wharf district). We thought about having the "clam chowder" (signature dish in San Francisco) but went for the "chicken scallopine" instead washed down by lovely bottle of white wine - very nice indeed.

Was a nautical shop next door with some nice caps, I thought I might go back and get the "Captain" cap and some "crew" caps for rest of the family?

Maybe not.

Tomorrow's plan is to catch the cable car to Union Square for a days shopping at Macy's, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nike Town, Levis, Louis Vuitton, Abercrombie & Fitch, etc followed by dinner in San Francisco's Chinatown district.

In sum trip is off to a flyer, everyone smiling and having fun.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Wow... great blog, are you writing in an american accent yet? Hey gimmie a break, it's the best joke I could think of. I am sure you'll all have a great time, and I hope you enjoy your journey, the people and the places even more. I look forward to seeing and reading more. If anyone asks for a tip... tell them to look both ways before crossing the road. Stay safe.
Love and regards
Norman

Hey Stephen, you definitely have to get a captain's hat. Come on, if Sonia may go shopping at LV, she might as well let you have a little cap! Glad you made it safely. Have fun!

I would say: let get the cap Captain! SF looks like a great place to visit and having some nice weather is much more funny to wander there. Can't wait to see more.
